DOWASCO Increases Dominica Water Network’s Capacity
Magnus Williams, Chief Engineer at the Dominica Water and Sewerage Company (DOWASCO) reveals the United Kingdom’s Government assistance in the technical development if our water networks.
Williams confirmed that the UK Government is providing 25 million pounds for technical assistance to Dominica.
“This project is being implemented with partnership from the CDB, the first step would be to develop a water sector strategic development plan which would then guide the development of the infrastructure works”
Williams also mentioned that technical steps are being taken to become more educated on the water resource in order to better manage it.
“We also want to further upgrade the West Coast System because that was impacted by Erica and Maria and the capacity of that system has been reduced so we want to improve and enhance it to facilitate hotel and housing development on the west coast and all the way to Portsmouth.”
