Dominica’s Private Sector experiences significant financial loss due to Coronavirus
Dominica’s Private Sector has experienced and will experience significant financial loss due to the Coronavirus.
That is the report of Lizra Fabien, Executive Director of the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC).
The DAIC recently conducted a survey among members of Dominica’s private sector to determine the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the sector and will have for the next six months.
Results show that 75% of businesses surveyed have lost bookings while another 50% have had to lay off employees.
Fabien reported that businesses have called for assistance in the form of fiscal incentives and administrative and informational support.
According to Fabien, the DAIC has made suggestions to Government to keep businesses afloat during this time.
