Dominican Edgar Hunter Elected UNCCD (COP 15) Regional Vice President For Latin America

At the 15th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) on May 11, 2022 in Côte d’Ivoire, or the Ivory Coast Edgar Hunter was elected Vice President for the Latin America-Caribbean grouping.

He was elected to represent The Group of Latin America and the Caribbean alongside H.E Reina Sotillo of Argentina (GRULAC).

The COP Bureau is the highest decision-making body within the COP and provides oversight to the several programs adopted by the COP. Hunter, the Senior Technical Advisor in Dominica’s Ministry of Environment, Rural Modernization and Kalinago Upliftment and UNCCD Focal Point, will serve as Vice President until the next COP in 2024.
