Dominica and the Caribbean is observing Mosquito Awareness Week 2019 from May 6th to May 12th under the theme “Small Bite, g Threat”. The slogan “Fight the Bite, Destroy Mosquito Breeding Sites” is a call for Caribbean citizens, government officials and persons of the Caribbean Health Sector to become involved in Disease Prevention and Environmental Protection.
The Caribbean event is a collaboration between CARICOM, the Pan- American Health Organization (PAHO), and the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA).
This year’s focus for Dominica is eliminating the threat of diseases spread by the Aedes agypti mosquito by holding programs on Mosquito Awareness and Mosquito Drum Proofing. The Ministry of Health and Social Services is partnering with Doiminican Health Organization Branches and numerous schools to host week- long Island- wide activities that commenced on May 7th and will end on May 10th 2019
