Dominica is not expected to welcome cruise visitors to the island this year.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says the cruise industry continues to be challenged and so Dominica is not poised to receive cruise visitors any time soon.

Mr. Skerrit says Dominica is meanwhile looking to grant yachting permission and a return to cruise tourism in 2022.

(NYCD) Will hold an Inauguration Ceremony this coming Saturday

The National Youth Council of Dominica (NYCD) will hold an inauguration ceremony this coming Saturday, to officially adopt a new executive in 2021.

President-elect of the NYCD Ashma McDougall says the Council will hold its inauguration at the Windsor Park Stadium.

This year, the Council will welcome two student representatives from the Dominica State College, a representative for the Kalinago People as well as a representative of Dominica’s disabled community.

McDougall says at the ceremony, the NYCD will also table a bill to allow for a Diaspora Youth Representative.

An agreement to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment ahead of construction of the International Airport.

Government has reached an agreement to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment ahead of construction of the International Airport.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit spoke to the media on Monday during a site visit to Joe Burton where construction has begun on 37 homes for relocation of displaced Wesley residents.

Mr. Skerrit said Government is seeking to use the services of local experts.

Meantime Prime Minister Skerrit said an agreement could be finalized soon for the construction of the international airport.
