Minister for Tourism Robert Tonge said that Dominica is expected to receive about 50 Cruise calls for the remainder of the season. Dominica’s tourism sector suffered tremendously following the passage of Hurricane Maria and as a result crippled the 2017/2018 cruise season.
He said that Carnival Cruise lines are expected to recommence operations in Dominica in July of 2018. Tonge said that prior to Hurricane Maria Dominica cruise sector was expected to have a 25% increase.
Tonge was speaking to Kairi FM News TODAY, Friday.
Meantime, Tonge said that about XCD$ 3 million has been spent towards rehabilitating the tourist’s sites across the island.
