Dominica Electricity Services (DOMLEC) has confirmed it is in the prepared mode should any disaster strike during the hurricane season.
DOMLEC was the first utility company to have been on the ground immediately after the passage of category five hurricane Maria in 2017, restoring electricity to the most critical areas including the island’s main hospital, the PMH.
DOMLEC Public relations Officer Adina Bellot Valentine says the company’s preparedness committee met this morning to ensure everything is in place for the storm.
She says all crews have been called in to prepare for Hurricane Beryl.
Valentine says there are still sections of the grid that are in a fragile state and therefore could result in power outages in certain parts of the island.
