Dominica joined the rest of the world today March 8, 2022 in celebrating International Women’s Day under the theme ‘Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow.’
Minister for Gender Affairs Dr. Adis King says this year’s theme is well aligned with government’s vision for women and girls in Dominica.
She has applauded women for being the bedrock of Dominica, as their importance shone through following the devastation of tropical storm Erika and Hurricane Maria.
Dr. King assures, government will continue to support efforts to advance gender equality and build a sustainable future.
In addition to Wednesday’s award ceremony, Dr. King announced the introduction of a roundtable discussion where several issues surrounding government’s priorities for women and girls will be put forward to the public. This discussion is expected to take place on Thursday March 10.
