The Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association (DHTA) has endorses plans by the government of Dominica to construct a new port and a cruise village.
In a release to the media, Vice president of the association, Kevin Francis said the DHTA is giving its full support and approval of the construction of the projects, and finds that collaboration is increasingly necessary to add to the existing narrative of the country’s tourism product. He adds, the DHTA welcomes these new infrastructural developments, they will definitely go a long way in developing the industry for the better
The vice president notes however that the DHTA and other private sector participants and organizations should to be consulted before the ultimate roll out of plans and designs.
In the release as well, DHTA President, Arienne Perryman suggests that “The design should speak to the culture of Dominica and give a glimpse of the nature of the tourism product of Dominica, while at the same time remaining to the theme of climate resiliency.
The DHTA president also notes that to achieve this in Dominica, there needs to be an open dialogue about the nature of the tourism product and how it represents the Dominica brand.
