DASPA Negotiations with Port Workers Finalized

General Secretary of the Dominica Public Service Union Thomas Letang has expressed satisfaction that negotiations with DASPA on behalf of port workers are now complete.

Mr. Letang says protest action undertaken by port workers did assist in drawing members of the board to the negotiating table.

He revealed that the collective agreement was signed on April 30th 2018 between DASPA and the D.P.S.U.

Mr. Letang the union will remain committed to its members in ensuring that their needs are addressed.

The general secretary laments, “we do not have to wait until protest for that to be done.”

He says had the union received a counter proposal with regard their concerns, there would be no need for protest.

The PSU boss has refereed to prime ministers Skerrit statement in which he referred to those in protest, as selfish, is premature.

He says the union has to act on behalf of those it represents. and that an agreement has been reached on behalf of port workers is an indication that port workers were indeed in need of such benefits.
