Consultant For OECS Reform Says Status Of Children Act Should Be Enacted To Eliminate Child Discrimination Within Dominica’s Legal System
Local consultant for OECS Reform Martin Anthony believes that a Status of Children Act should be enacted to eliminate child discrimination within Dominica’s legal system. Speaking on Kairi FM’s Gender Affairs Program, he says that although this Act does not exist in Dominica, it should be legislated to ensure the equal status of children.
According to Anthony, the purpose of the Bill is to remove all discriminatory provisions in law relating to children born out of wedlock.
He went on to clarify that the Bill proposes that regardless of whether a child is born out of wedlock or not, all children should be treated equally because children are not property and did not seek to be in that circumstance.
