Citizens have been warned against burning rubbish at their homes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Monday, Environmental Health officer Tassie Thomas said a number of complaints have been lodged with her unit.
According to Thomas, as COVID-19 is a virus that attacks the respiratory system, volumes of smoke in the community can be dangerous.
Thomas also warned against piling rubbish as this may attract disease- carrying pests.
She asked persons to be mindful of other diseases during the pandemic.
