Caribbean Development Bank Joins Forces With Dominica To Build Climate Resilience

The Board of Directors of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has authorized two infrastructure projects to increase climate resilience in Dominica.

The first of these is the rehabilitation of the roadway between Loubiere Bridge and Grand Bay, which will be financed with grant funding of over 60 million US dollars from the Government of the United Kingdom (UK) and a CDB loan of US$5.5 million.

Additionally, a UK Government grant of over $28 million USD will finance a water project which will improve water supply and distribution infrastructure, upgrade the Jimmit wastewater system, and enhance the operational capacity of the Dominica Water and Sewerage Company (DOWASCO).

Meantime, President of Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), Dr. Hyginus ‘Gene’ Leon made the commitment to continue supporting Dominica on its mission to achieve climate resilience.
