The Ministry of Environment, Climate Resilience, Disaster Management and Urban Renewal on Thursday launched a beautification campaign aimed at replanting trees, following the devastation of Hurricane Maria.
Permanent Secretary Careen Prevost says the initiative is in line with efforts to create green spaces in urban areas and throughout the island by extension.
Prevost says the programme will be implemented in phases, and announced Phase 1 which will include all villages between the Douglas Charles Airport to the Kempinski Hotel construction site.
She says this area was chosen first, “since we are supporting the Ministry of Tourism, and all the communities in the area to beautify the surroundings to welcome our guests from the airport.”
