It’s hunting season!
From October 1st, 2021 to November 30th, 2021, the Ministry of Environment, Rural Modernisation, and Kalinago Upliftment had informed the public that the Government of Dominica had approved a temporary lift of the ban on hunting wildlife.
The sale of wildlife will be permitted from October 1st, 2021 to December 31st, 2021. Persons found selling or exporting wildlife beyond the allowed period shall be persecuted by law.
The public is reminded that only Licensed Hunters may hunt Crabs (all members of the Gercarnidae family), Agouti, and Manicou (Opossum) ONLY. It is an offense under the Forestry & Wildlife Act to hunt or fish in freshwater streams without a valid license, and that the hunting of other species such as Mountain Chicken, all Birds, and Iguanas is strictly Prohibited.
