Dominica has kept its promise to gift its friends in the OECS with a portion of the AstraZeneca vaccine received from India on Tuesday.
Saint Lucia announced on Thursday that it had received 2000 doses of the vaccine from the Government of Dominica. The St. Lucia Government said the donations will bolster the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign which shall be launched shortly by the Ministry of Health.
It expressed sincere gratitude to the Government of Dominica for the act of generosity.
Antigua meanwhile said it would receive 5000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from Dominica. The vaccines were transported by an RSS aircraft to Antigua.
Information Minister of Antigua Melford Nicholas told a Cabinet press briefing on Wednesday, that all necessary preparations to receive and store the vaccines were already in place.
It was agreed that frontline workers will be among the first to receive the vaccine when they arrive in Antigua.
St. Lucia also received 1000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from Barbados on Wednesday.
