Artificial Intellegence launched as possible screening solution at Dominica-China Friendship Hospital
Today, the Dominica China Friendship hospital announced a potential screening solution to identify Diabetic Retinopathy in patients with Diabetes.
Diabetes Retinopathy is a diabetes complication which causes damage to the back of the eye and can lead to blindness if left undiagnosed.
The Artificial Intelligence software is able to review retinal images and make referral decisions at the point of care.
Post Graduate researcher at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Dr. Oliver kemp revealed that some of the main limiting factors in early detection and screening of Diabetic Retinopathy include staffing limitations, access to services and patient records.
