Cabinet took a decision on Thursday to place prisoners on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison in Antigua and Barbuda on house arrest. The decision was taken as part of plans to reduce the prison population.
The cabinet note said those, who have been granted bail and are unable to meet the monetary threshold, will be required to report to the Police Station in the mornings and the afternoons.
A number of prisoners recently tested positive for COVID-19. All are said to be asymptomatic.
