Attorney General Levi Peter has said the amendments to emergency powers approved in the Dominica parliament on Monday was justified as Dominica continues to grapple with the impact of COVID-19.
Minister for National Security and Home Affairs Rayburn Blackmoore asked the Dominica parliament to approve a resolution to extend a state of emergency for 3 months.
The house was asked to amend the emergency powers act to facilitate an ongoing curfew into early May.
Mr. Peter likened the ongoing situation to a disaster situation needing emergency powers to the state.
