A New System introduced to secure communications during and after disasters
A new radio telecommunications system was installed and deployed here last Friday to secure communications during and after disaster.
On Monday, Minister with responsibility for Telecommunications and Broadcasting Oscar George stressed the need for post- disaster connection on island.
The stand- alone system called the Winlink Radio Messaging System, was installed through the collaborative effort of the International Telecommunications Union and Dominica’s government.
George says the system will use solar generated power and will connect radio operators across the island.
Training for the system will be undertaken during coming weeks.
