Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Youth at Risk and Gender Affairs Dr. Adis King, says if Dominica is to achieve its goal of becoming the world’s first climate resilient nation, then empowerment of the island’s people must be a top priority.
She was speaking at the official launched of a 300 thousand dollars project dubbed “Working towards a Gender Responsive Climate Resilient Dominica”.
The inauguration of this EnGenDER Sub-Project aims to ensure that climate change and disaster risk reduction actions are better informed by an analysis of gender inequalities response to the crisis.
The minister and Parliamentary representative for the St. Joseph constituency spoke passionately of parts of the project which will benefit her constituency most including the retrofitting of the Belles catholic church and the Caleb Laurent primary school to function as hurricane shelters.
